Hadron Spin Dynamics ∗

چکیده

Spin effects in exclusive and inclusive reactions provide an essential new dimension for testing QCD and unraveling hadron structure. Remarkable new experiments from SLAC, HERMES (DESY), and Jefferson Lab present many challenges to theory, including measurements at HERMES and SMC of the single spin asymmetries in ep→ e′πX where the proton is polarized normal to the scattering plane. This type of single spin asymmetry may be due to the effects of rescattering of the outgoing quark on the spectators of the target proton, an effect usually neglected in conventional QCD analyses. Many aspects of spin, such as single-spin asymmetries and baryon magnetic moments are sensitive to the dynamics of hadrons at the amplitude level, rather than probability distributions. I will illustrate the novel features of spin dynamics for relativistic systems by examining the explicit form of the light-front wavefunctions for the two-particle Fock state of the electron in QED, thus connecting the Schwinger anomalous magnetic moment to the spin and orbital momentum carried by its Fock state constituents and providing a transparent basis for understanding the structure of relativistic composite systems and their matrix elements in hadronic physics. I also present a survey of outstanding spin puzzles in QCD, particularly ANN in elastic pp scattering, the J/ψ → ρπ puzzle, and J/ψ polarization at the Tevatron. How to probe the spin – dependent gluon distributions †

Two–spin asymmetries A π 0 LL are calculated for various types of spin–dependent gluon distributions. It is concluded that the E581/704 data on A π 0 LL do not necessarily rule out the large gluon polarization but restrict severely the x dependence of its distribution. Moreover, A J/ψ LL are calculated for the forthcoming test of spin–dependent gluon distributions. The advent of so–called " the...

J - Parc

An outline is explained for hadron-physics projects at J-PARC, which is considered to be one of the flagship facilities in hadron physics from 2008. The facility provides an intensity frontier with 50 GeV proton beam for nuclear and particle physics. It could cover a wide range of hadron physics from strongly interacting many-body systems with an extended hadronic degree of freedom, strangeness...

The impact of the form of the hadron potential at large distances on the behaviour of the hadron spin-flip amplitude at small angles is examined. The t-dependence of the spin-flip amplitude of high energy hadron elastic scattering is analyzed under different assumptions on the hadron interaction. It is shown that the long tail of the non-Gaussian form of the hadron potential of the hadron inter...

Spin-flip Amplitude of Hadron Elastic Scattering and Possible Polarization Effects at RHIC

With relation to the RHIC spin programwe research the polarization effects in elastic proton-proton scattering at small momentum transfer and in the diffraction dip region. The calculations take into account the Coulomb-hadron interference effects including the additional Coulomb-hadron phase. In particular we show the impact of the form of the hadron potential at large distances on the behavio...

We report on a calculation of the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the partonic cross sections contributing to single-inclusive high-pT hadron production in collisions of transversely polarized hadrons. We give some predictions for the double spin asymmetry ATT for the proposed experiments at RHIC and at the GSI.
